Great job with this documentary! I was in at kernel 0.93 and hooked forever! My best programming jobs involved Linux. Might you consider one on GIT, as you already know the author? ;)

Hi, I remember the commodore vic 20 I started with that, I remember there was no harddisk but a tape to save the software , very funny to code in basic no structure just goto a line, later i got a floppy disk I think it was a floppy disc 5½, best regards Knud Nielsen Denmark

In a world of false hero like Jobs and Gates, Linus is true legend. Sad part is that not many people have realised that how he has helped us to be free from corporate domination.

Why would you bring up Musk? Why the F would you give a crap about HIS worthless life HIS worthless opinions? Musk is a liar scammer fraudster money-pusher. He never invented or created anything of positive value or originality in his life. Let me guess: you are to lazy to do the least amount of research and dig into the biographies of literally MILLIONS of other people on Earth, but decided instead to just pick a name because you hear it all the time on big media.

I personally switched to linux because it's free and I don't have to pay like a month's salary for windows operating system, which cost 20 grand in India and in recent times you need to pay in subscription for most production softwares like adobe suite, Microsoft office etc, which was earlier a one time payment life time use and also the bloatware and the data collection software installed on windows really made me switch over but I will say it's a very hectic and quite hard for a beginner and a person who doesn't have a lot of time fiddling around writing your own code and you don't work in IT. It sometimes feels like handling finances with five children and not a lot of salary which makes you pluck your hair out. It really effecs your workflow but windows is right now not worth the price for all the data collection software and absurd pricees of all Microsoft software based products and the windows os itself which wasn't that much during windows 7 time makes it not worth it in India for a student working a part time job not involved in IT but linux os not a preferred choice but you have to use it in this situation, because it's not made for daily driving pc use with ease.

First 10 seconds: ALL WRONG, Linus Torvalds made only the Kernel. If you refer to the GNU project you are rigth, you should call it GNU/linux or GNU + Linux, Linux is the Kernel, the rest of the os is GNU. It's like to call your android phone Linux (it uses Linux kernel). SO please give credit to the GNU project.

Dislike... "one developer create an entire operating system"!!!! I was expecting to hear something like that sooner or later, this what happens when people keeps forgetting GNU. The operating system is called GNU/Linux, but over time and for various reasons people just called it Linux. Linux is just the kernel, by Linux Torvalds, but "an entire operating system" is more than the kernel.

I'm not a gamer, So I can't really comment on that aspect, But I find very little that I would ABSOULUTELY NEED Windows or MacOS for that I can't do with Linux. I do have both Windows and Linux machines (as well as an Android phone and Android tablet). A lot of people note that Linux is "cool" because it's free. Hell, The best thing about Linux is it runs on DAMN NEAR ANYTHING. from cheap single board hobby computers to supercomputers. A lot of people worry about a "learning curve"... But there are distros that are easy to move to if you are a Windows or MacOS. Hell, I bet there some for OS/2 fans! I'm not "religious" about OSs, I use Windows, And If you are "in love" with MacOS, Great! But if one is "uncommited" and is considering building a desktop PC, Give a Linux distro a try. My "go to" is Linux Mint.
